On Languages and Dialects
Frankforderisch: A Quick Guide to the Language of Frankfurt
In the federal German state („Land“) of Hessen, mainly two dialects are spoken: „Osthessisch“ in the North, and „Hessisch“ in the South. „Hessisch“ itself consists of three subdialects: „Südhessisch“, „Mittelhessisch“ and „Zentralhessisch“. In the central hub of Hessen, the city of Frankfurt, the local dialect „Frankforderisch“ is used, which belongs to „Zentralhessisch“.
This text is a funny, easy to read introduction to „Frankforderisch“ (and „Hessisch“).
An outline discussion of key language patterns, such as vocabulary, phonology, morphology and syntax is given.
